Kittens Become Monkey Toys as God’s Good Plan Rolls On

June 26th, 2008 · No Comments

Kitten, soon to become monkey food. There doesn’t seem much point in some people being born. I know a girl that had a daughter with heart problems - valves that didn’t work correctly at birth. This then affected the amount of oxygen to her brain. This left her in a very bad way. They’re happy she’s beginning to walk at 5 years of age.

I was walking up some steps that lead to the top of a small mountain here the other day. I found a kitten coming down the steepest part of the stairs - rolling down them and crying. Really wailing. Obviously mom took off to go get some food and left it there.

I picked it up and took it up away from the steep steps and set it down and started videotaping. (video clip at end of article)

Just before that I saw a woman and man and I asked if they’d seen the mother cat. They hadn’t, but they told me a sweet story about seeing a monkey throw a kitten this same size from a tree in front of them ninety minutes before. The monkeys were playing with it like a Frisbee.

That was likely this kitten’s sister and this one was headed for the same fate. It’s inevitable really. There are some adult cats that live at the bottom of the temple (a Buddhist temple), and they hold their own against the monkeys. But, when the monkeys get a hold of a kitten they either tear it to pieces like a rag-doll or throw it around for fun and games like a flippy flier Frisbee.

I took the kitten further up the steps to where I’ve seen the mother a few times. It wasn’t there. I decided to take it up to step 520 where there’s a restroom and lock it in there until I came back down the hill.

When I returned someone had opened the door - but the kitten remained just inside the open door. There’s nothing really brilliant to do because if I leave it there - the monkeys will find it around 7pm when they climb the hill to sleep in the trees around step 500.

If I take the kitten higher up the mountain where those monkeys aren’t - there are 2 other types of monkeys that stay in the trees further up - probably kitten tossers as well.

If I take the kitten down to the bottom - the monkeys already found one kitten down there and threw it from the tree tops to the concrete below.

If I hand the kitten to a woman in white - a magee (Buddhist nun) she may, may not look out for it as there are probably 30 dogs and 10 cats all over the temple at any one time - Thais’ are ambivalent toward them and believe in karma - if the cat gets killed by a monkey - that was it’s karma.

I find it hard to really disagree. I think whatever god that might exist doesn’t care one way or the other. If a god can’t care about a human child born with a malformed heart why would a kitten get a second thought?

Some god made the rules.
The rules suck.

Who am I to attempt to change the rules? Live with the suck… just keep asking - Why? Maybe someday god will pull his over-sized head out of his under-sized ass and give us the ultimate truth in the form of a parable about a kitten thrown out of the tree by the monkey clan.

Am I making any SENSE to anybody?
